FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 23, 2012 DHS Retaliates Against Alabama; Suspends Roll-Out of Secure Communities Early in January, DHS notified Alabama officials it had suspended the roll out of Secure Communities within the state. The Secure Communities program, which uses fingerprinting technology to identify illegal aliens within local jails, is currently operational in 37 out of Alabama's 67 counties. However, DHS had scheduled to complete the roll-out of Secure Communities to all counties in the state by the end of 2011. Gallup: Nearly Two-Thirds of Americans Dissatisfied with Current Immigration Levels In a Gallup Poll released this week, nearly two-thirds of Americans said they are dissatisfied with the current level of immigration. Of the total number of respondents, 34 percent said they are 'very dissatisfied" and another 24 percent said they are "somewhat dissatisfied."
