ALIPAC is calling on members of Congress to investigate why the Department of Homeland Security sent a memo to the media containing false information implying that the Tucson shooter Jared Loughner, was motivated by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' religion and stance in favor of Amnesty for illegal immigrants.

"Homeland Security released false information to the American media and public trying to politicize this shooting less than 24 hours after the incident," said William Gheen. "We need our top law enforcement to appeal for calm and release facts when something like this happens. We got the opposite from DHS. DHS tried to incite people politically with lies."

Early on Sunday January 9, less than 24 hours after Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 19 others were shot in Tucson Arizona, Fox News began reporting that the Department of Homeland Security had released a memo. The News report and the copy of the memo posted online states Jared Loughner had ties to a website for a group called American Renaissance (Amren), that Amren was anti-semtic, and opposed to Congresswoman Giffords' immigration stances.

"Confirmed at this time (1800 hrs)... * Gabrielle Giffords Is in ICU.* Federal Judge John Roll is deceased. He did rule on a 32 million dollar civil rights lawsuit in February, 2010...6 deaths attributed to the shooting. 19 total people hit by gunfire...no direct connection - but strong suspicion is being directed at AMREN/ American Renaissance. Suspect is possibly linked to this group. (through videos posted on his myspace and YouTube account.). The group's ideology is anti government, anti immigration, anti ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), anti Semitic. Gabrielle Giffords is the first Jewish female elected to such a high position in the US government. She was also opposite this group's ideology when it came to immigration debate." --Greta Van Susteren | January 9, 2011 8:11 AM

There is no evidence that the shooter Jared Loughner visited or supported the website or organization called American Renaissance.

There is no evidence that American Renaissance is anti Semitic. There is no evidence Jared Loughner was motivated by religion. His mother is Jewish and he may be as well.

There is no evidence that the shooter targeted Judge John Roll or was motivated by Roll's ruling to award border-crossing illegal aliens 32 million dollars in a civil case against a rancher trying to protect his property.

While Congresswoman Giffords does support the unpopular political stance promoted by the Obama Administration and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano that would make millions of illegal aliens competitive American workers, students, and voters, there is no evidence that Jared Loughner was motivated by immigration issues.

"Napolitano's DHS and the Obama administration immediately tried to implicate their political opponents who oppose Amnesty for illegal immigrants in the Tucson mass murder," said William Gheen. "This is the same kind of behavior we have seen for two years with DHS sending false information to police officers and departments asking them to target citizens based on their conservative views by the Dept of Homeland Security."

It is likely that the incendiary and controversial comments made by Pima County Sheriff Clarence W Dupnik were influenced by the false propaganda memo's leaked from DHS in 2009 and 2010.  These 'reports' demonized millions of Americans based on their political views.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC maintains the call issued a year ago for the resignation or employment termination of Janet Napolitano due to her focus on political and legislative issues instead of law enforcement issues. Concerned Americans are being asked to call and write their members of Congress to immediately request congressional investigations and actions designed to protect the American public from a federally politicized police force as witnessed by the recent actions of DHS.
